| Hapas |
| We can make hapas using three
types of material (1) Woven polyethylene,
standard is 20 strands per inch (mesh size
about 1mm) but we also have 24, 32, 40 and
50 spi. (2) Raschel mesh which is a more robust
woven material with a rectangular mesh that
is 3 mm x 5 mm (3) Knotless nylon in a wide
range of mesh sizes from 2 - 50 mm. |

Dimensions (LxWxD): 1.0 m x 1.0 m x 1.0 m. This “standard” hapa is made from Raschel woven material and is appropriate for holding fish over 0.5 gram individual weight. The main benefit of using Raschel material instead of the 1mm standard mesh is that the larger mesh size allows for better water exchange. The mesh is very robust and is able to withstand regular brush cleanings and long periods of direct sunlight Includes a sturdy top-rope and reinforced loops with rope attached at each corner and top and bottom along the length. Weights can be supplied separately.

Our biggest “standard” hapa which we refer to as a “Jumbo” hapa. Dimensions (LxWxD): 24.0 m x 5.0 m x 0.84 m. Used for breeding tilapia and/or holding large numbers of fry. The mesh is very robust and is able to withstand regular brush cleanings and long periods of direct sunlight. Includes a sturdy top-rope, reinforced loops with attachment ropes at each corner and at intervals along the length. We can supply weights separately if you require them. Other mesh sizes are available. An alternative for broodstock is to use the lager meshed raschel on the sides with the 1 mm (20 strands per inch) mesh on the bottom. |
