Training

Our practical, hands-on training covers a range of tropical aquaculture activities. Obviously our specialty is in the mass production of tilapia fry but we can arrange a course of instruction in any “aspect of fish, shellfish and shrimp culture tailored to your organisations specific training objectives.

Our approach is based on ‘action learning theory’ also known as ‘learning-by-doing’. Using this framework we work with participants using a blend of theory and practice in a cycle of experience and critical reflection to build appropriate knowledge. As well as being a learning system our training builds awareness and appreciation for systems for learning, such as essential record keeping and analysis, as an integral part of management which means that the trainees will have the knowledge, motivation and capacity to continue learning about their own system. This systems approach works for participants from all levels of experience and educational background

Study Tours

Thailand and neighbouring countries have a broad range of aquaculture production systems managed at production levels from subsistence/extensive level to super-intensive production. These systems can provide an ideal learning environment for well organised and led study tour participants. Properly facilitated interaction in a range of field situations from the farm to the office,
laboratory or production plant can enable insight and broaden horizons.

Tours can be run as a part of a training course or as a stand-alone activity for groups of farmers, commercial sales and marketing teams, product developers, researchers, civil servants, academics, non governmental organisation staff (charities, etc) and journalists.
